Firefly is Whedon s next huge popular television show. It is likely that she left an impression on viewers, as this single episode was the catalyst for her becoming an acclaimed actress. Summer Glau played River Tam effortlessly. Glau was an excellent actor. Tam's character, Summer Glau was forced to sit for government exams to help her prepare for the role of the perfect assassin. Tam had difficulty learning to control her emotions as a result. Glau got the chance to show off not only her acting skills, but her fighting skills as a character in Firefly. It was also evident that learning to be an assassin gave Glau to fully use her athletic abilities. Summer Glau is a classically trained ballerina. She's also trained in flamenco and tango, however an injury to her foot ended her dance career. Firefly ran for only one season, but it gained a loyal following. Whedon was so passionate about the show that he decided to return to the show a few years later. Summer Glau, however, received quality work. Summer Glau appeared on television series such as Cold Case, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
